Steve Miller: Proven Leadership. Trusted Experience. A Heart for Daytona Beach.
A Servant Leader Who Knows the People, the Process, and the Promise of Zone 3
Steve Miller is a longtime Daytona Beach businessman, accounting and tax consultant, former IRS Revenue Officer, and former Daytona Beach City Commissioner who has spent decades serving the community from the inside out.
Born and raised in Winter Haven, Florida, Steve graduated from Winter Haven High School and went on to earn his degree from Florida State University, where he majored in Criminology. That foundation helped shape his lifelong commitment to fairness, accountability, public service, and practical problem-solving.
For nearly four decades, Steve has owned and operated an accounting and tax consulting practice in the heart of Daytona Beach’s community, helping families, small business owners, working residents, and retirees better understand their finances, protect their resources, and make sound decisions. His background as a former IRS Revenue Officer gives him a rare and valuable perspective on taxpayer responsibility, financial accountability, and the importance of managing public dollars with care.
Experience That Goes Beyond Talk
Steve is no stranger to public service. He previously served as a Daytona Beach Zone 5 Commissioner from 1993 to 1995 and has continued to stay actively involved in civic life long after leaving office.
His record includes service as a former Executive Director of Central Florida Community Development and appointments to several boards, including Health & Human Services, Juvenile Justice, Healthy Kids, Midtown Redevelopment, and Leisure Services. He also assisted in the creation of ordinances that helped establish the Leisure Services Board, strengthening the city’s ability to support recreation, youth engagement, and quality-of-life programming.
Steve has also been part of meaningful efforts that reflect Daytona Beach’s history, pride, and identity. He helped lead the successful effort to rename 2nd Avenue in honor of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, ensuring that one of the city’s most important corridors carried the name of one of its most powerful legacy-builders.
A Bridge-Builder Who Gets Things Done
At a time when many communities feel divided, Steve Miller brings a steady, relationship-centered leadership style. He understands how to bring different voices to the table, listen to competing concerns, and work toward practical solutions that benefit the broader community.
More recently, Steve assisted in recruiting and supporting the selection process that brought City Manager Deric Feacher to Daytona Beach. He was also part of the coalition that helped save the City Island Recreation Center, a treasured community asset. As President of the Midtown Neighborhood Watch, Steve continues to stay close to everyday residents and neighborhood concerns—not from a distance, but face-to-face, block by block, and meeting by meeting.
A Candidate Rooted in Integrity, Service, and Results
Steve’s motto, “Face Everything and Rise,” is more than a slogan. It reflects how he has lived, served, worked, and led. He believes Daytona Beach deserves leadership that is honest with people, careful with taxpayer dollars, respectful of the city’s history, and bold enough to fight for its future.
For Zone 3, Steve Miller offers a rare combination: financial expertise, public service experience, business ownership, neighborhood involvement, institutional knowledge, and a deep love for Daytona Beach.
He is not new to the work. He has been doing the work.
And now, he is ready to bring that same dedication, discipline, and community-first leadership back to City Hall.
